A Letter to the Congregation from Molly Stevenson, Senior Warden:

SURELY THE PRESENCE OF THE LORD IS IN THIS PLACE!
Dear Christ Church Family,

I am thrilled to announce that after an incredibly prayerful and intensive search process, your search committee has discerned unanimously that God has called The Rev. R. Kevin Kelly to serve as the next rector of Christ Episcopal Church, Valdosta, Georgia. Your vestry has affirmed this call, and Father Kelly has accepted with gratitude and excitement.

Kevin comes to us from Savannah where he has served since 2014, but he is no stranger to Christ Church. As stated in his Letter of Interest when applying, he walked into Christ Church for the first time in 1978 and “The Episcopal Church has been my home ever since…” He was confirmed, married and ordained a deacon here. He and his wife Christine are excited about coming home!

The Kellys plan to finish their time in Savannah and get moved to Valdosta around the first of the year, with Father Kelly’s first Sunday being no later than January 18, 2026.

I am profoundly grateful to our search committee for their love and commitment to this work. Please know that each of them took this responsibility seriously and were very prayerful through the process. Please thank them when you see them!

I also give thanks to God for providing us with rich spiritual nourishment and continuity during this interim period through the generous gifts of The Rev. Walter Hobgood and The Rev. Bob Carr. Their commitment to the well being of this church family has not gone unnoticed.

Please continue to pray for Christ Church and the Kellys as we prepare to come together to do the work God has given us to do in this next chapter in the life of Christ Church, Valdosta.
