Christ Episcopal Preschool strives to offer relational, developmentally appropriate, and play-based learning for children ages 2-4 years old. Classes are from 9:00 a.m. to noon, Monday-Friday. The school observes holidays and coordinates the schedule with the city and county holidays whenever possible.
The curriculum at Christ Episcopal Preschool is not standardized, but rather is a developmentally appropriate program developed by Elise and the other teachers, who between them have over 50 years of teaching experience. Each class focuses on one subject a week using creative play, art, stories, and occasional guests to reinforce learning. Playtime on the play equipment on the back patio of the Gabard building is a favorite part of the day. This state-of-the-art equipment has a shade covering, outdoor musical instruments, and a climbing gym.
Our teachers nurture each child and encourage a love of learning. Lead teacher Elise Sandbach teaches the four-year-olds. Ms. Sandbach has been teaching since 1986, and has been at Christ Episcopal Preschool since 1992. Jacquie Thigpen teaches the two and three-year-old class. Each class also has a paraprofessional who assists in the school. See our Preschool & PMO Staff page for photos of all of our teachers and aides!

Christ Episcopal Preschool was established in 1983 by Retired Bishop Henry Louttit while he was rector of Christ Church. Bishop Louttit envisioned the Preschool as a form of mission outreach that would provide a rich learning experience for children in a happy, loving environment, and this purpose still guides our program today.
